I have always been a pen enthusiast. The colors, the way they write, and how they feel when being used. Pens are the reason why every so often I skin the keyboard and monitor and go for pad and pen. In the nineties growing up everyone had the multicolored pens. Every so often pens had fun colors like pink and purple but the standard multicolor pen had blue, black, green, and red. One pen and so many options. But as many others, as I got older adulting altered choices including pens, as simple as the choice of color. Fast forward to Nursing school. The multicolored pens became expectable, note taking as a student and as a nurse is more convenient and organized when different colors are an option.
As many people do, I have an opinion on the selection available out on the market. Now, there are several pens, the most common pens, those found at grocery stores and office supplies stores. The brand of pens I am comparing includes BIC, Inkjoy, and Pilot Dr. Grip.
#1 BIC
The cost of a package of 3 pens cost $6-8. The standard color combination although pastel color combination are also available. The pen is the most commonly found everywhere. The prince and availability are the only pros. I am not a huge fan of the way this pen writes, it doesn’t feel as smooth as others on this list. If you need a pen to jot something down it will do the job.
#2 Papermate Inkjoy
The cost of a pack of these range from $8-11. The pack comes with two standard pens and an extra pen with purple, pink, lite green, and lite blue. The writing is a much smoother ball point pen. The ink and writing is much better quality.
#3 Dr. Grip 4+1 Pilot
Another ball point pen, this has the smoothest writing and writes like a gel pen. The ink dries quick to reduce smudging. They have the standard colors, with a pencil in the clip. This pen although is high qualities has a few cons, the price point is much higher as the pan runs $8-13 per pen. The quantity of ink in the pen is limited and will dry out quickly. The nice thing to compensate, the pen barrel cons in several color, and an option to buy refill ink and easers.
My favorite is the Dr. Grip 4+1 pilot, followed by Inkjoy than the Bic pen. There are so many multicolor pens out there what’s your favorite?
